Joelle Thomsen, of Kingsport, died October 26, 2012. She grew up in Augusta, GA, and after graduating from Auburn University with a degree in chemistry, she went to work for Tennessee Eastman in 1947 in order to be close to her older brother and his family. Joelle married William "Bill" Thomsen in 1974. After she and Bill retired they found great joy in traveling.

Joelle was very active in First Broad Street United Methodist Church including teaching youth and adults, singing in Sounds of Joy and holding various offices in the United Methodist Church Women.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Pop and Sadie Rush, brothers, Bill Rush and Fletcher Rush, and great-nephew, Adam Lively.

Joelle is survived by her husband, William "Bill" Thomsen; four stepsons, Bruce, Scott, John and Gordon Thomsen; four nephews, Ron, Mark, Ken and Stuart Rush; and one niece, Barbara Lively.

Friends can visit at Preston Place or at the home of her niece, Barbara Lively at 444 High Ridge Road, Kingsport, TN 37660.

Entombment services will be conducted on Monday, October 29th at 2:45 pm at First Broad Street United Methodist Church Columbarium. Memorial services will follow at 3:00 pm at First Broad Street United Methodist Church with Rev. Mickey Rainwater and Rev. Jack P. Weikel officiating. The family will receive friends following the memorial service.
