John Jackson "Jack" Booher

John Jackson "Jack" Booher

John Jackson "Jack" Booher, 67, joined the Lord in heaven on Wednesday, December 24, 2008, after a lengthy illness.

He was a resident of Kingsport, served in the United States Army, and was a member of Masonic Lodge #688. Jack dedicated 27 years to the Hawkins County Press.

Preceding him in death were his father, Norman Booher; his mother, Sarah Booher; brothers, Elbert, B. D, Alfred, Walmer, and Lawrence Booher; and sisters, Mary Kate Booher Smith and Naomi Booher Jacobs.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Janice Way Booher; daughters, Vicki Robinson, Penny Bays and her husband Anthony who was like a son; three grandchildren, Dominique Robinson, Alex Robinson, and Jackie Bays; one great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Robinson Johnson; sisters, Vilas Johnson, Jane McNamara and husband I. W., Frances Leonard, all of Bristol, and Lou Goins of Eldorado, Ohio; one brother, Bobby Booher of Bristol, VA; and several nieces and nephews who were near and dear to his heart; as well as grandnieces and grandnephews.

The family wishes to express special thanks to Dr. Michael Bookout and staff; also to all the doctors and nurses who took care of him at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center, Pulmonary Associates, Advanced Home Care, Marcum's Pharmacy, and Resp-I-Care Home Medical Services.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Saturday with Rev. Sam Haynes and Rev. Fred Gilreath officiating.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Gary Laughlin, Bruce Vukodinovich, Larry Booher, Darrell Booher, Joe Smith, and Claude Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Harry Hall, Ben Hall, Ralph Satterfield, George Carter, and Norman Halton.
