John Calvin Briggs

John Calvin Briggs, 74, passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at The Wexford House in Kingsport. John was born in White Pine, TN and was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Kingsport. A retired pharmacist, he loved his family, his church and watching sports - especially UT football and the NY Yankees. He also had a great love for blues music and could tickle the ivories upon occasion as well as playing the drums.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin and Nellie Briggs.

John is survived by his devoted wife, Geraldene Masterson Briggs; their daughter, Shannon Holloway, her husband James and granddaughter Elizabeth Rose; their son, Wes Briggs, his wife Catherine and grandchildren John Peter and Carolyn Dene. Survivors also include his loving sister Phyllis McCracken, her husband Terry, nephew Jeff Taylor and wife, Tammy and great-nieces Megan and Brooke as well as Bill Taylor. Also by sisters-in-law, Bertha Masterson and Beth McCormack and brother-in-law, Thomas Edison Masterson and their families.

The family will hold the funeral service at First Baptist Church on Sunday, November 1, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Friendship Sunday School Class.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund at 200 West Church Circle, Kingsport, TN 37660.
