John Allen Brown

John Allen Brown, 80, of Kingsport, passed away Thursday, January 10, 2013 with his two daughters at his side.

He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U. S. Air Force.

John was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Jericho Shriners, and the Holston Ruritan.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Armetta Gammon Brown; his parents, Lula and Luther Brown; and his brother, William Brown.

Surviving are his daughters, Katherine Brown Shaver and husband, Samuel of Wintergreen, VA and Elizabeth "Beth" Armetta Bowen and husband, David of Kingsport; three grandchildren, Kristen Elizabeth Green and husband, Christopher of Cedaredge, CO, Jacob Samuel Bowen and Matthew Roy Bowen; and two great-grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Green and Lucas Christopher Green.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 12 to 1 p.m. at Wheeler United Methodist Church. Services will be held at 1 p.m. with Pastor Chris Brown officiating.

Interment will follow at Tri-Cities Memory Gardens with military rites conducted by the American Legion Posts No. 3/265.

Pallbearers will be David Bowen, Jacob Bowen, Matthew Bowen, Samuel Philson Shaver, Jeffrey Gammon Coates, and Eddie Kitson.
