John D. Ford

John D. Ford, 84, Jonesborough, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 8, 2016 at his home. He was a lifelong resident of Washington County and was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church. John loved his garden and sitting on his front porch. He was a strong believer in family values.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Ford, parents, 2 sisters and 1 brother.

John is survived by 2 daughters, Terry Hunt and husband, Wayne, and Tammy Hobbs; son, Dwight Ford and wife, Lisa; 8 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; special friends, Pauline Littleton, John Bragg and Penny Light; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 5-7:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Fall Branch. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm with Rev. Victor Wallace and Dr. Joe Blankenship officiating

The graveside service will be held on Monday at 11:00 am at Oak Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Jonesborough.

Pallbearers will be Lester Roberts, Tim Hicks, Dwayne Littleton, Jimmy Fitzgerald, Micah Salyer and Wayne Hunt. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Wilson, Bobby Garst and Rick Cloyd.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Oak Hill Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 2501 Hwy 81 N, Jonesborough, TN 37659, or to the American Diabetes Association, 4660 Old Broadway St., Knoxville, TN 37918.
