John D. Parker Jr

John D. Parker, Jr., 67, of Kingsport, passed away Wednesday evening November 7, 2018 at Holston Valley Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born in Kingsport and was a lifelong resident. John enjoyed reading his newspapers and was known for his many hats along with his quick sense of humor. He enjoyed attending and participating in parades. John graduated from ETSU with a psychology degree and later received his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from Nashville School of Law. He was a member of the Tennessee and Kingsport Bar Associations, plus served as a Magistrate in Sullivan County. John practiced law in Kingsport for 34 years. He was a member of First Broad Street United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John D. and Frances Parker; sister, Louise Fisher, and brothers, Bill, Jack and Frank Parker.

John is survived by his loving wife, Penny Parker of the home; sister, Linda Murphy of Kingsport; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and Aunt and Uncle, Charles and Juanita Bridwell.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, November 12, 2018 at First Broad Street United Methodist Church. The funeral service will follow at 6:00 pm with Dr. Wm. Randall Frye, Rev. Joe Green and Rev. Jack Edwards officiating.

The graveside service will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at East Lawn Memorial Park. Those planning to attend are asked to be at Hamlett-Dobson by 1:00 p.m.
