John O. Forester, 83, of Fall Branch, died on January 30, 2010. John was born August 7, 1926, in Jonesborough. He attended Jonesborough High School. He had lived in Butchertown of the Oak Hill Communities of Fall Branch for the past 60 years.
John was a veteran of World War II serving in the Infantry Division in France. He was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church and attended church at The Gospel Mission. He was retired from Tennessee Eastman Company after 42 years of service in 1986. John served several terms on the Fall Branch Community Chest Board and served as Secretary of the Board.
John was preceded in death by his wife of 28 years, Lou Artie Forester; parents, R.O. Jack and Ada Maude Forester; and brothers, Elmer and Lester Forester.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Helen Forester of the home; children, Linda Hite and husband Bob of Kingsport, Gary Forester of Telford, Carl Forester and wife Gayle of Indianapolis, IN, and Steven Forester and wife Monica Creasy of Jonesborough; thirteen grandchildren, Lisa Kitzmiller and husband Roy, Tina Duncan and husband Shane, Angie Bolling and husband Brian, Jennifer Linkous and husband Jeff, Michelle Campbell and husband John, Shane Forester, Rhonda McKee and husband Kevin, Patrick Forester, Heather Forester, Taylor Helton, Christopher Forester, Elissa Creasy, and Alexis Creasy; twelve great-grandchildren, Chase Duncan, Eva Duncan, McKenzie Bolling, Parker Bolling, Whitney Linkous, Bethany Linkous, Cassendra Campbell, Krista Campbell, Cayenne Campbell, Austin Forester, Phillip Forester, and Josey Smith; sister, LaVaughn Everhart of Jonesborough; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Fall Branch Chapel. Funeral services will be at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Victor Wallace and Rev. Joe Baker officiating. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Posts #3/265.
Burial will be on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. in Fairview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be members of Rolling Thunder.
