John Allen Hackney, Jr.

John Allen Hackney, Jr., 83, of Kingsport, died Tuesday, April 9, 2024. John was born in Rye Cove, VA where he grew up. He later graduated from Tusculum College. John retired from Eastman and served as a lay minister. He served as a minister in the Holston Conference of the United Methodist Church, serving in the Tri-Cities area.

John is survived by his loving wife, Peggy; son, John; and daughter, Jeannie.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday, April 19, 2024, at Kendrick Creek United Methodist Church. The funeral service will follow at 12 p.m. with Rev. Stephen Hopkins and Rev. Ray Amos and Rev. Ray Dockery officiating.

Burial will follow at Holston View Cemetery.
