John William "Bill" Hite, 81, of Kingsport went to his heavenly home Wednesday, February 6, 2008.
He served in the U. S. Army during World War II and retired from Eastman Kodak after 40 years of service. Bill was an active member of Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church for over 49 years where he was a member of the Class of Hope Sunday School Class and also served as a Deacon and Elder. He was an active member of Sinking Creek Lodge #575 for 50 years and was a past Master. Bill was an avid golfer and had worked at Warriors Path Golf Club as a ranger.
Preceding him in death were his parents, John O. Hite and Mae Poore Hite; a brother Fred Hite Sr.; and three sisters.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, June Roller Hite of Kingsport; a special niece and nephew, Connie and Eddie Fields; two brothers, Ansel Hite and Kyle Hite both of Kingsport; a sister-in-law, Elsie Hite; three other nieces, Phyllis Johnson and husband Frank, Judy Wilkerson and husband Kenneth, Brenda Poe and husband Bill; four nephews, Fred Hite Jr. and wife Janet, John Hite, Bob Hite and wife Debby, Jim Hite and wife Jan; great-nieces, LeAnn Headrick, Jeannie Morgan, Becky Hite, Joni Hite, Breann Poe; great-nephews, Richard Johnson, Phillip Johnson, Wayne Hite, Erik Hite, Jason Wilkerson, Johnny Wilkerson; one great-great-nephew, Joshua Wilkerson.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church. Funeral services will follow at 7:30 p.m. at the church with Rev. Tom Phillips officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Tri-Cities Memory Gardens with military rites by American Legion Post #3/265 and Masonic rites by Sinking Creek Lodge #575.
Great-nephews will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Class of Hope Sunday School Class.
