John Ben Pectol III

John Ben Pectol, III, of Kingsport, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2015. Born on November 8, 1947, he was the son of the late John Ben, Jr. and Annie B Donaldson Pectol. John Ben graduated from Law School at Memphis State University. He practiced law for the majority of his career in Dayton, TN and served as a juvenile judge for many years. Following his return to Kingsport, he served in many volunteer capacities including Contact Concern and assistance with elderly homecare. He was an active member of St. Timothy's Episcopal Church. John Ben enjoyed ballroom dancing and was an avid fan of UT and Dobyns-Bennett sports, from which he was a graduate of both.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William "Don" Donaldson Pectol, and uncle, William J. "Woody" Donaldson.

John Ben is survived by his son, John Ben Pectol, IV and wife, Cindy of Apison; his triplet grandchildren, John "Jack" Ben Pectol, V, Kaitlin Diane Pectol, and Joshua Dean Pectol, all of Apison; sister-in-law, Elaine Pectol of Elizabethton; and niece, Jennifer Pectol of Medford, MA.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 12-1:30 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 1:30 pm with Jon Hermes officiating.

The graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
