John Dulaney Jay McClain, 82, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, after a lengthy illness. Jay, a farmer, was a life long resident of the Arcadia Community of Kingsport and was of the Presbyterian faith. Jay was a true friend to all who knew him and lived life as a farmer and simple man.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John D. and Helen Biddle McClain; sister, Sylvia Ann; brothers, Jack, Fornia, Clarence and Lynn McClain; and nephews, John McClain and Toney Alan McClain.
Jay is survived by four nieces, Judy, Christen, Betty and Louis; four nephews, Darrell, Ralph, Terry and Allen; former sister-in-law and life long friend, Audrey McClain Baxter; sister-in-law, Willma McClain; and several great-nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 5-7:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm in the chapel with Pastor Will Shewey officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted on Monday at 11:00 am at East Lawn Memorial Park.
