John David J.D. Olinger, 89, of Kingsport died on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital.
He was born in Maces Springs, Virginia near Hiltons and lived in Kingsport for the remainder of his life.
He was a verteran of the Army and proudly served in WW II. He was a retiree of Eastman Kodak having been employed for over 41 years in the S & M Division. His hobbies were hunting, trout fishing and working in his yard.
J.D. was preceded in death by his parents, John and Myrtle Castle Olinger; and brothers, Luther Ernest, Clarence and Albert Olinger.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Olinger; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 7, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport. The funeral will follow at 2 p.m. with Rev. Wrightly Salling officiating.
Interment will follow the funeral service at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 3/265.
