John Ray Pecktal

John Pecktal, 56, Kingsport, passed away Saturday April 5, 2008 at his home.

Born in Plainfield, NJ, he had resided most of his life in Kingsport. He was a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School and attended East Tennessee State University.

Mr. Pecktal was a veteran of the United States Air Force having served in Vietnam.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Pat Pecktal; and grandparents, Joe and Gladys Pecktal and Walter and Doris Patrick.

Surviving are his life companion, Linde Hanes, Kingsport; daughter, Marta McWhorter and husband, Brandon, Savannah, GA; son, Joseph Pecktal, Boone, NC; two grandchildren, Ella and Jackson; sister, Trish Haddix and husband, Larry, Lexington, KY; brother, Joe Pecktal and wife, Diana, Houston, TX; and several nieces and nephews.

Military graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Mountain Home National Cemetery with the Chaplain of the VFW officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Charles DeWitt Byrd Post 3382 of the VFW.
