John "Johnny" Noah Pierce, 61, Kingsport, TN, passed away early Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at Vanderbilt Medical Center following a brief illness.
Johnny was born in Kingsport and graduated from TMI in Sweetwater, TN, class of 1970. He attended LMU and ETSU after TMI. Johnny was in cellular telephone contracting having worked and lived in various areas of the country and was currently employed by Ready Mix U.S.A. He was an avid horseman. He enjoyed cutting horses and mounted shooting. Johnny enjoyed life and made friends wherever he went.
His parents, J. R. and Maude K. Pierce, maternal grandparents, Lon Kilgore and Lena Kilgore, and paternal grandparents, Dr. J. R. and Vesta Pierce preceded him in death.
Surviving are his sisters, Kay Pierce Cassell and husband, Eddie, Jonesborough, TN; Vesta Pierce, Cody, WY; and Donna Hardcastle and husband, Chuck, Godley, TX; nieces, Lori Smith, Amy Ferguson, Lisa Olsen, nephews, Jake Cassell, Will Cassell, Seth Cassell, Josh Whitt, and Chad Olsen; three great-nieces and two great-nephews.
The family will receive friends 4-6:00 p.m. Saturday, July 7, 2012 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Services will follow at 6:00 p.m. with Pastor Greg DePriest and Todd Byrd officiating.
Burial will follow at Pierce Cemetery, Kingsport, TN.
Pallbearers will be Will Cassell, Seth Cassell, Jake Cassell, Scotty Ferguson, Bob Smith, and Danny Payne.
Honorary pallbearers are Eddie Myers, Danny Conner, Mike Stevens, Joe Martino, Joe Wolfe, Brian Vance, Fred Daniels and fellow company workers at Ready Mix U.S.A.
