John Sandy Reed was called home at 8:55 a.m. Wednesday, December 26, 2007, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Mr. Reed served in the U. S. Air Force from 1949-1954. He was then hired by Tennessee Eastman Company in 1955 and retired from the Research Department in 1991.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Reed of the home; two daughters, Carolyn Moncier and husband, Hal, Knoxville, Tennessee and Jayne Bishop, Kingsport; one son, Michael Reed and wife, Linda, Church Hill; and three beloved grandsons, Travis and Christopher Bishop and Martin Reed Moncier.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Rev. Ralph M. Kidd officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Monday at Mountain Home National Cemetery with military graveside rites by American Legion Post #3/285. Honorary pallbearers will be Roger Reed and the Lamar High School class of 1949.
