John A. Slater
John A. Slater, 68, of Kingsport died Thursday, December 15, 2011 at his home.
John was born in Kingston, Ontario, Canada and moved to Kingsport in 1978. He served five years in the Canadian Navy and retired from Thompson Metal.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Amy and Joseph Slater and half sister, Marion Duncan.
John is survived by his wife of 39 years, Sandy Slater of the home; one daughter, Patty Pierson and husband Bobby of Church Hill; his pride and joy, his grandson, Brandon Pierson; two brothers, Robert Slater and wife Helen of Ontario, Canada and George Slater of Ontario, Canada; three sisters-in-law, Brenda Crockett of Kingsport, Betty Dixon of Kingsport, and Helen Watts of Morganton, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. No services are scheduled.
