John Wallace Larkin

John Wallace Larkin, 94, Kingsport, TN, passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2015.

Wallace was a native of Kingsport and was born on March 13, 1921. He worked for 40 years as a certified welder in the maintenance department at Tennessee Eastman Company.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Morrell Larkin, twin brothers, Ray and Raymond Larkin who died in infancy, his parents, John Patton and Kelly Tranbarger Larkin, a brother, Eugene Larkin, and a sister, Katherine Larkin.

Surviving are his son, John W. Larkin (Ruth); daughters, Kathy Lisenby (Jerry Coates), and Martha Walsh; grandsons, James D. Lisenby (Tonya), Chad McMurray (Marcia), David Lisenby, and Ryan Larkin; a granddaughter, Kelly Wilkie (Philip); great-grandchildren, Tyler Marshall, Nathan Lisenby, Elijah Black, Tyler McMurray, Taylor Marshall, Blakely McMurray, Brendan Lisenby, and Ella Kate Wilkie; and a sister, Norma Creasy.

The family would like to send a special thanks to the home visitors from Higher Ground Baptist Church, Nancy Jarrard and Ruth Skelton. Also, thanks to Violet Jones from Higher Ground Baptist Church who wrote poems and inspirational cards to Wallace.

He loved his family, friends, and neighbors. Special family friends include Eula Holland, Marga Williams, Dennis and Paula McMillan, and Victoria Brummett.

The family will receive friends Saturday, November 28, 2015 from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.

The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Ronnie Owens officiating.

Burial will follow the service at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be the grandsons, James D. Lisenby, Chad McMurray, David Lisenby, Ryan Larkin, and Philip Wilkie. Honorary pallbearers will be the great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Higher Ground Baptist Church, 1625 Lynn Garden Drive, Kingsport, TN 37665 or the charity of one's choice.
