"But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." Isaiah 40:31
Johnette "Johnnie Bryant Jancarek Jones stepped out of this life and into the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, on August 7th, 2014.
Johnnie was born June 23, 1941 in New York. She was the fourth child of Frank and Blen Jancarek. At an early age, her family moved to Greenville and then Johnson City, Tennessee, where she grew up. She graduated from Science Hill High School.
On November 7th, 1959 she married Robert Jones, and they went on to raise five children, moving to Fall Branch in 1969. Prior to her illness, she worked for many years at Perkins, and at Wellmont.
Our mom was a truly unique lady. She devoted most of her life to taking care of others - her children, her mother and father, her mother and father-in-law and our dad. She loved the outdoors, being in her flower beds and yard. Mom was a champion coffee drinker and ice cream eater, and an avid New York Yankees' fan. She loved hanging out with her grandbabies, and was so very proud of her family.
She taught us from an early age to love the Lord and showed us how to work hard every single day. What an example of selflessness and courage we had! Her life was full of cares and concerns, but she never gave up.
She was a member of Homeland Baptist Church, where she faithfully attended Sunday night services. Being there when they had special music was a real treat to her. In later years, she was a member of Fall Branch First Baptist Church, where she loved the wonderful group of ladies in her Sunday School Class.
Johnette was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Robert C. Jones; Sr., her parents, Frank and Blen Jancarek; and her beloved sister, Blen Corby.
Left behind to cherish and remember her life are her children, daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Scott Wilson, and their children, Adam and wife, Rebekah, and Molly Kincheloe and husband, Mark; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and wife, Merri Jean, and their children, Kerri, Christopher and Rebecca; Gregory and wife, Tracie and their sons, Nicklaus and Seth; Terry and wife, Alisa, and their daughters, Kayla and Breanna, and son, Frank, and his daughter, Alaina. She is also survived by her sisters, Joanne Sutphin and Joy Fuchs, her brothers, Frank Jancarek and Melvin Jancarek, brothers-in-law, Carl Sutphin and Brian Fuchs, sisters-in-law, Ann Jancarek and Judi Jancarek, and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank both Madison House and The Wexford House, where Johnette has spent the last few years, for their care of our mother. Many thanks to her wonderful friend, Evelyn Thomas, who has faithfully kept in touch with Mom throughout her illness, and to the Ladies 1 Class of First Baptist Church and the WMU, for never failing to remember her with flowers, cards and fruit baskets.
The family will receive friends anytime at the home of Gregory and Tracie Jones, 2100 Hwy 93, Fall Branch. Visitation will be on Saturday, August 9th from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Fall Branch First Baptist Church, 1525 Hwy 93, Fall Branch.
A celebration of Johnette's life will begin at 7:00 p.m. with the message provided by Pastor J.W. Depew, and music by J.W. Depew and the Celebration Choir of Fall Branch First Baptist Church.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 10th at the Fall Branch First Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be sons and grandsons.
