Johnnie Wayne Slaughter

Johnnie Wayne Slaughter, 74, Colonial Heights, died unexpectedly late Monday evening, November 17, 2014. Johnnie was born in the Fordtown Community where he lived until moving to Colonial Heights. He was a graduate of Holston High School and received his B.S. Degree from ETSU. Johnnie was an employee at Holston Defense Corp until his retirement in 1999 after 35 years of service.

He was a member of Fordtown Baptist Church and a member of Holston Lodge #559 where he was past Master and Treasurer. Johnnie was a 33rd Degree Scottish Rite Mason. He was Degree Master of the 10th Degree in the Scottish Rite. He had served as Chairman of the Board of Custodians of the Grand Lodge of Tennessee.

Johnnie was preceded in death by his son, Jonathan Brent Slaughter; parents, John Decatur "Dee" and Mary Jane "Molly" Slaughter; sister, Helen Jordan; and brother, Roy Lee "Sonnie" Slaughter.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn G. Slaughter of the home; daughters, Chantele "Kacee" Slaughter-Adams and husband Todd ;and Kasha Slaughter and husband Clayton, all of Jonesborough, TN; three grandchildren, Kailey, Kagan and Kyden; sister, Mary Nell "Ned" Hamilton of Kingsport; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 5-8:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Burial will follow at Monte Vista Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Ivan Ryans, Tom Cox, Jerry Ward, Todd Adams, Kagan Adams, Clayton Seymour, Kyden Adams and Tony Slaughter. Mike Strickler and Harry Wolfe will serve as honorary pallbearers.
