Joseph "Joe" Johnson
Joseph "Joe" Edward Johnson, 76, of Kingsport passed away Friday, March 13, 2015.
He was born and raised in Kingsport and a graduate of Sullivan High School. After graduation, he joined the US Air Force, serving for 4 years. After serving he attended Berea College in Kentucky then transferred to ETSU. Joe then moved overseas where he traveled extensively. He was also a pilot and an avid photographer.
Joe is preceded in death by his son, Adam Wade Johnson; his parents: Haskel and Margaret Johnson; and grandparents: Robert and Clara Johnson.
He is survived by his son, Dr. Jerry Usary and wife, Debbie; daughter: Martina Kuhrt; granddaughter: Amanda Usary; 2 great-grandchildren: Zoi and Joseph Usary; sisters: Nancy Franklin, Judy Smith and husband, Ron; Janice Long and husband, David; brother: Dr. William Johnson and wife, Katy; several nieces and nephews; lifetime friends: Joe Selby and Avis McAmis.
The family will receive friends Saturday, March 21, 2015 from 1:30-2:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport with a celebration of his life to follow at 2:00 p.m.
