Joseph E. McLean

Joseph E. McLean, 80, Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on January 11, 2015.

Born in Kingsport on June 12, 1934, he lived here most of his life. He worked for several years as a boilermaker and an ironworker. Joseph enjoyed working on cars, watching wrestling, singing, playing his harmonica, spending time with his family, and going to flea markets.

Joseph was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Maretta Jo; his parents, James E. McLean and Bertha (Collins) McLean; four sisters, Betty Jean McLean, Lucille Mellons, Thelma Goddard, and L. Margaret McLean; and two brothers, Jerry K. McLean and Gerald McLean, Sr.

He is survived by his daughter, Teresa M. Spearman, Indiana, PA; and son, Edward E. McLean, Blairsville, PA; two grandchildren, Jason Spearman, and Ryan Spearman and wife, Madeline, all of Indiana, PA; one great-grandchild, Alaina Spearman; brother, Jimmy McLean & wife, Pamela, Rogersville; sisters, Estelita Keller and husband, Paul, Kingsport, and Ann M. Ramig, Kingsport; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and special niece, Angie.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm Tuesday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 7 pm in the chapel with Dr. Bobby Bernard officiating.

Graveside service will be at 11 am on Wednesday at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Those attending graveside services are asked to assemble at the funeral home by 10:15 am Wednesday and then proceed to the cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Zears, Arnold McLean, Larry Abner, Stron Adams, Mike McConnell, and John Forbes.
