Joshua C. Light

Joshua C. Light, 22, of Big Ridge Road, Kingsport, went to be with Jesus November 29, 2009, at his home surrounded by his loving family following a courageous 3 year battle with leukemia.

Joshua was a born-again Christian and attended Gospel Mission Church. Joshua's heart was full of music and the love of musical instruments. He enjoyed playing and picking with all of his friends. He also loved fishing, coon hunting, cooking and eating and was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves. But most of all, Josh cherished and loved his family.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Jonathon Light, and grandfather, Carl Householder.

Josh is survived by his parents, Rick and Susan Light of Big Ridge Road; brothers, Jacob Light and Joseph Light of the home; sister, Julia Light, also of the home; paternal grandmother, Linda Householder; maternal grandparents, Faye Dover and Ray Littleton; great-grandmother, Edith Mullins; aunts, Angie Calloway and husband David and Janie Walls and husband Stacy; uncles, Joe Littleton and Tim Dover and wife Tabitha; cousins, Indy Calloway, Olivia Calloway, Jennifer Dunn, Heather Dunn and daughter Jayna, Jessica Littleton, and Kendel and Caleb Howard; and special friends, Gina Dolen, Israel and Whitney Crawford, Sara Negrotto, Jeremy Smith, Mike Matthews, and Brandie Gilliam.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Fall Branch. Anybody who wants to bring an instrument and pick in honor of Josh's memory is invited to do so. There will be an "open jam" during the hours of visitation. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 8:00 p.m. at the chapel with Rev. Shelton Meade and Pastor Lewis Meade officiating. Rev. Orville Dolen will serve as an honorary minister. Music will be provided during the service by Josh's friends.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Oak Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jacob White, Tim Dover, David Calloway, Stacy Walls, Mitchell Littleton, Israel Crawford, Jeremy Smith, Michael Matthews, and Jason Scott. Honorary pallbearers will be Roy Dolen, Charles "Udd" Scott, Doug Baskette, Glen Light, Ronnie Morelock, and Justin Meade.

The family request that memorial donations be made in Josh's honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
