Joyce Ann Bell

Joyce A. Smith Bell, 71, of Kingsport, passed away December 22, 2014 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center after a brief illness.

Born and raised in Maryland, Joyce moved to Tennessee in 1963 where she spent the remainder of her life. She earned her cosmetology license in 1990. She enjoyed reading, gardening, and bird watching, but most of all she enjoyed her family and was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Joyce was a born again Christian.

She wass preceded in death by her mother, Delores Humphries and her father, Clifford Smith.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Ralph Bell; daughter, Faye Dolen and husband Ron; sons, Darrell Bell and David Bell; brother, Alvin Smith; grandchildren, Brian Light and wife Donna, Jennifer Cavin and husband Stephen, Gina Davenport and husband Eric, Whitney Bell, and Dylan Bell; great-grandchildren, Carter, Caitlyn, and Charlie; nephews, Jonathon Smith, Benjamin Smith, and Stephen Smith; and special friends, Pat Light and Cheryl Simpson.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00pm on Friday, December 26, 2014 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 7:00pm with Rev. Jerry Lawson officiating.


Graveside services will be held at 11:00am Saturday at Gunnings Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Brian Light, Dylan Bell, Ron Dolen, Rob Crawford, Jonathon Smith, Benjamin Smith, Stephen Smith, and Tyler Mann.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
