Joyce Howington

Joyce Howington, 69, of Kingsport, died Thursday night, November 28, 2013, at her home, surrounded by her family, after a courageous fight with cancer. Born in Erwin, TN, she resided in Kingsport most of her life. Joyce retired from TEC after many years of service. She was a member of Parker's Chapel Church.

She was preceded in death by her father, Doyle Edwards.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Maynard F. Howington of the home; son, Daryl Herron of Kingsport; two daughters, Melinda Howington and Monica Cody and husband, David, all of Kingsport; granddaughter, Katelyn Fleenor; mother, Sara Edwards of Kingsport; three sisters, Brenda Stout of Kingsport, Betty Donihue and husband, Steve of Fall Branch, and Martha Ledbetter and husband, Tom of Jonesborough; brother, Johnny Edwards and wife, Joyce of Big Stone Gap, VA; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, from 5-8:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 8:00 pm with Rev. Gary Calhoun and Pastor Eddie Smith officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted on Monday at 2:00 pm in Oak Hill Memorial Park. Family members and friends will service as pallbearers.
