Rev. J.R. Hulse, 75, born December 14, 1935, passed away on Monday, November 14, 2011 at Johnson City Medical Center.
J.R. was a diesel mechanic at Mason & Dixon Shop and shop foreman. He owned his own diesel garage, Jay's Diesel Service and was an expert witness as an accident scene investigator for Hawkins, Moody and Associates, Tom Dossett and several others. J.R. was a retired minister and former pastor for Alley Valley Church and Starnes Bluff. He was also a member of Free Masons and an avid stamp and coin collector.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John L. Hulse and Myrtle Hulse Roberson; brother, John L. Hulse, Jr.; sister, Ann Iris Hulse and grandson, Jerry Wayne Hulse, Jr.
J.R. is survived by his wife of 57 years, Beulah Jean Hulse; son, Evangelist Jerry Wayne Hulse and wife, Lorraine of Albemarle, NC; daughters, Betty Hicks and husband, Phil of Kingsport, TN and Judy Carter and husband, Craig of Ft. Blackmore, VA; brothers, Samuel Dexter Hulse and wife, Alice of Jonesborough, TN and Larry Wayne Hulse and wife, Bonnie of Summersville, KY; sister, Lonita Bentley and husband, Harry of Blountville, TN; special grandson, Joseph Hulse, raised as his own; godchild, 3 year old Christopher Humphries; several grandkids, great-grandkids... .too many to list.
Visitation will be on Thursday, November 17, 2011 from 5-7:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport. Services will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Willie Neeley and Rev. Clifford DeLee officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted on Friday, November 18, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Tri-Cities Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Joe Hulse, Emmett Carter, Phil Hicks, Craig Carter, Harry Bentley and Jimmy Ray Smith.
