Juanita Barbara Avery, 93, of Fall Branch and The Place at Kingsport, passed away June 28, 2008, at Indian Path Medical Center following complications resulting from a fall.
Juanita worked to achieve a master's degree in education. Following her graduation, she taught at an Indian reservation in Spokane, Washington. She then alternated teaching in Tennessee and Georgia where she retired in 1989.
She led a very full life, and will be missed by those who knew her.
Preceding her in death is one daughter, Barbara Johnson; two brothers, Elmo and Harold Shoun; two sisters, Viola Walker and Marie Sampson.
Surviving are her son Joseph Cate and wife Eloise, Kingsport; four grandchildren, John S. Cate, Danielle Marie Cate, Virginia Talbot, and Melanie Talbot; special sister-in-law, Juanita Fogle and daughter Joy; special nieces, Linda Palmer and Sandra Deakins; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Fall Branch. No formal funeral services will be conducted.
