Juanita "Peggy" Hammersley, 75, of Kingsport, died on Monday, November 5, 2012, after a long battle with lung cancer.
She attended the Salvation Army Church for several years, and will spend eternity with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Hammersley; parents, Oliver and Ethel Light; three sisters, Nora Hickman, Gaynell Mitchell and infant, Stella Light; five brothers, Hob, Clarence, Charlie, Jack and Carmel Light.
She is survived by one brother, James C. Jay Light and wife, Judy, of Kingsport; two very special nieces, Jackie Hicks, of Kingsport, and Kim Booker, of Gray; special nieces, Imogene and Shirley Light, of Mt. Carmel; several other nieces and nephews; special cousins, Madeline Depew and Ralph Littleton.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church Cemetery, Fall Branch, with Pastor Fred Robinette officiating.
Peggy's family extends a heart felt thank you to the staff at Indian Path ICU, Dr. Bhutta, Ashley, Josh, Beth, Karen and Paulette. They are proof that there are angels on earth. May God bless each of them.
