Juanita June Bridwell Lady, 87, of the Rock Springs Community, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 5, 2010. She resided at Little Creek Nursing Home in Knoxville, TN.
Born May 5, 1923 in Sullivan County, she graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School in 1941 and married Denzel Lady on July 12, 1947. June worked at Kingsport Electric for many years and then was a bookkeeper for the South Kingsport Utility District and office manager for H & R Block. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed sharing produce with her neighbors.
June was a member of Rock Springs United Methodist Church and taught Children's Sunday School.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Denzel Lady; daughter, Betty Lady McClelland; brothers, J. D. Bridwell and Ralph Bridwell; and sister, Lillian Bridwell Quinn.
Survivors are her daughter, Nancy Lady Granger and husband, Scott of Knoxville; grandchildren, Lauren Granger Morgan and husband, Tommy of Beltsville, MD, Lindsay Granger and Bradley Granger, both of Knoxville, TN; brother, Otis Bridwell and wife, Becky of Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.
Special thanks from the family to Little Creek Nursing Home and Avalon Hospice in Knoxville for their care of June.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Services will follow visitation at the funeral home with Dr. Mack Turner officiating.
Burial will follow at Rock Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tony Valk, Paul Chapman, Bennie Carroll, Chuck Bridwell, Jim Bridwell, and Roy Carroll. Honorary pallbearers will be Bert Carter, Eddie Cleek, Vertil Lady, and Sevier Gray.
