Judith Ann "Judy" Pardue Barrett

Judy passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, May 12, 2016. She was born in Kingsport, TN, June 7, 1943. She attended school at Sullivan Elementary and graduated from Sullivan High School, class of 1961. Judy attended Sue Bennett Jr. College, Georgetown College, and she received a degree from ETSU.
She was employed for many years by Sullivan County at the Sullivan Gardens Library as branch librarian. Judy was involved in various volunteer activities both locally, and statewide, with Centers for Independent Living, AARP, and Tennessee Area Agency on Aging and Disabilities.
Judy was preceded in death by her father and mother, Harold and Mabel Pardue (Kingsport), and her brother, H. Gerald Pardue (Memphis).
She is survived by her husband, John Barrett (Kingsport) and her brother, Edwin Ray Pardue (Pinehurst, NC). Her smile, unique humor, outlook and courage will be missed.
The family will receive friends 1:30-3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 28, 2016 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. A celebration of life will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Rhonda Hobbs and Rev. Cindy Munsey officiating.
