Judy G. Dykes, 65, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord peacefully in her sleep after a lengthy illness.
Judy was a 1960 graduate of Sullivan High School. She previously worked at Tennessee Eastman Company, but had retired after 25 years at Holston Valley Medical Center in the Physical Therapy Department and the Sullivan Rehab Center. She was a member of Double Springs Missionary Baptist Church and was a devoted Christian, wife, mother, and "mi-mi". Her hobbies included crocheting, camping, and loving her family.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Rev. Cecil and Ruth Gillenwater; and an infant son, Garret Lynn Melear.
Surviving are her husband, Wayne Dykes of the home; two daughters, Jody Melear Vaughn and husband Jeff of Kingsport, Sharon Robbins and husband Greg of Kingsport; one son, Sam Dykes and wife Sherry of Kingsport; two brothers-in-law, Jerry Dykes and wife Ana of Kingsport, Harold Dykes and wife Sharon of Fall Branch; six grandchildren, Chelsea and Katie Ferguson, Zachary and Lindsey Vaughn, Morgan Robbins, and Kasey Dykes.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Rick Roop officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Double Springs Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be deacons at Double Springs Missionary Baptist Church. Family members will serve as honorary pallbearers.
