Judy Gail Benton

Judy Benton, 69, Rogersville, went to be with the Lord and her husband, Gale on Thursday, December 13, 2018. Born in Kingsport, she had lived in this area all her life. She received her Bachelor's Degree in teaching from ETSU. She taught for 32 years in the public education system both in Honaker, VA and then retiring from the Hawkins County School System. She attended Mt. Carmel Freewill Baptist Church. Judy loved to read and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gale Benton, and parents, James and Mable Manis.

Judy is survived by her daughter, Shelia Dorton and husband, Bobby; sons, Gale Benton, and Robbie Benton and wife, Michelle; daughter, Tammy Flannagan; 15 grandchildren; several great and great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Virginia Herring, Gay Shelton and Joy Leming; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2-4:00 pm on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 4:00 pm with Rev. Terry Roberts officiating.

The graveside service will be held on Sunday at 2:30 pm at Zion Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Gale Benton, Robbie Benton, Wesley Williams, Logan Shelton, Tommy Shelton, Dustin Benton, Curry Benton and Josh Brown.
