Julia E. Dykes, 93, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord August 15, 2007, from Wexford House following a brief illness.
Born in Rogersville to the late Robert and Bertha Lipe, she resided in Kingsport most of her life. A long-standing member of Hilltop Mission Church, she was a loving wife and devoted mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Dykes; her daughter, Sue Frye; and several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her son, Gary Dykes, and daughter-in-law, Brenda, of Kingsport; her son-in-law, Harold Frye, Kingsport; five grandchildren: Duane Frye, and wife, Tammy, and their children, Julie and Derek; Brian Frye, and wife Linda, and their son Andy; Tracy Farmer, and husband, David, and their sons, Chandler and Blake; Wendy Ridler, and husband Paul and their sons Nick and Jack; and Jenny Jones, and husband Euggie, and their sons, Hogan, Cooper, and Eli; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 Sunday.
Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday at 4:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport, with Pastor Jeff Strong officiating, and music provided by Kenny Clevinger.
Graveside services will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Holston View Cemetery.
