June Nolan Fisher passed away on Monday, February 2, 2015, at Wexford House. June was born in Linefork, KY (Letcher County) and was the last surviving child of James Grant and Callie Huff Nolan. She graduated from a Methodist Mission School, Kingdom Come Settlement School in Linefork, and then attended Union College. She taught school in Kentucky for several years and also for one year in Ohio. In Ohio she completed a course at Miller School of Business.
Upon moving to Kingsport in 1955 she became employed in the executive offices of Dobyns-Taylor Hardware Company where she remained for more than 29 years until retirement. She was a long-time member of Lynn Garden Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday School. She is an Honorary Kentucky Colonel.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Condia E. Fisher; 3 sisters, Thelma Cornett, Della Shepherd and Clara Ison; and brother, Robert E. Nolan.
June is survived by 2 nieces, 4 nephews, and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5-7:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm with Pastor Richard Willis officiating.
A graveside service will be conducted on Friday at 11:00 am at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be nephews and great-nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be Dwight Taylor, Carl Rains, and D. Ray Williams.
Mrs. Fisher requests that there be no floral offerings since there are no local relatives. Anyone who wishes may make a donation to her church, Lynn Garden Presbyterian Church, 1116 Nelms Lane, Kingsport, TN 37665.
