June Nelson Luster Roberts, 87, Kingsport, moved into her eternal home late Thursday evening, February 26, 2009, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following an extended period of poor health.
She was born in Kingsport where she resided most of her life. June attended Sunnyside Baptist Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Arthur and Reba Nelson; her first husband, Rev. Arthur Luster; and a sister, Yvonne Rice.
Surviving are her husband, C. Jack Roberts of Kingsport; one daughter, Martha France and husband Larry of Kingsport; one son, David Luster and wife Brenda of Boone, NC; three step-daughters, Frances Kramer of Yuma, VA, Betty Eads of Gray, TN, Nancy Jennings of Jonesborough, TN; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one sister, Charlene Mellons of Kingsport; two brothers, Wallace Reed Nelson of Vineland, New Jersey, Ralph Nelson of Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.
The family extends a special love and thanks to her caregivers, Phyllis Bowen, Pauline Anderson, Kay Hall, and Mary Jones.
Receiving of friends will be Sunday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Sunnyside Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the church with Pastor Roy Graves and Pastor David Luster officiating. Friends may also call at the home of her daughter, Martha France.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday at East Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Kevin Hite, Jason Hite, Alex Luster, David Blakley, Mike Miller, and Bill Ketron.
