June Marie Wolfe Slater

June Marie Wolfe Slater passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, June 7, 2012.

She was born and raised in Scott County, Virginia. June attended Wolfe's Chapel as a child. She graduated from Rye Cove High School. June was a longtime member and Sunday School teacher at Doran Addition Free Will Baptist Church with 45 years of perfect attendance. After her husband, Ernest, passed away in 1975, June worked at Northeast State for many years.

June was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt and will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Slater; parents, Ballard and Nannie Love Wolfe; brothers, Howard and baby Leonard; and sisters, Ann Burke, Monnie Lane, Portia Tate, Edith Arnold, and Allie Marshall.

June is survived by her loving sons, Danny Slater and wife, Sherry, and Jackie Slater of Kingsport; grandchildren, Mitchell, Kristi, Jackson, and Tyler Slater; a special brother-in-law, James W. Marshall, and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 pm on Monday, June 11th at Doran Addition Free Will Baptist Church, 461 Independence Dr., Kingsport, TN 37660. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm with Dr. Roy Lester officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted on Tuesday, June 12th at 1:00 pm at Oak Hill Memorial Park. The family will go in procession from the church. Friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Rhoton, Frankie Hart, Fred Roller, Dan Moneyhun, John Roller and Gale Starnes.
