Kai Smeyile, 85, of Kingsport went to be with the Lord May 1, 2007.
Born in Chicago, Illinois, she traveled extensively across the United States throughout her life. She completed her education with a bachelor?s degree at the age of 65. She always strived to help others through her career and community activities.
Preceding her in death is her mother, Emma Smith of Strawberry Plains, TN.
Surviving are her daughter, Manon DeSheilds-Lyons and husband, Roxy of Largo, Florida; son, Pepe Burns of Bristol; several distant family members and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 4 pm Sunday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. The family will receive friends following the memorial service at the funeral home.
