Karen Denise Salyer Brown

Karen Denise Salyer Brown, 57, of Kingsport, lost her battle with cancer Saturday, October 26, 2013.

She was born in Kingsport and a life-long resident. She was a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School and a member of Apostolic Lighthouse. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Tilford and Bettye Salyer.

She is survived by two daughters, Rainia Brown and fiancé Shane Winegar, Kingsport, and Rachael Brown; two grandsons, Jarah Brown and Kingston Sanders; sister, Sherry Kilgore and husband, James A., Kingsport; brother, Rick Salyer and wife, Sharon, Surfside Beach, SC; three nieces; two nephews; several great-nieces and great-nephews; life-long special friends, Vikki Byington and Kim Herndon.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 28, 2013, at Apostolic Lighthouse. The service will follow at 8:00 p.m. with Pastor David M. Petersand Pastor Tony Bleckley officiating.

The graveside service will be at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29, 2013, at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Brian Kilgore, James Allen Kilgore, Mickey Haren, Shane Winegar, Hunter Haren, and Travis Rasnake. Honorary pallbearers will be Jarah Brown and Kingston Sanders.
