Karl V. Greer

Mr. Karl V. Greer, 71, of Kingsport, passed away following a courageous battle with ALS. He was born May 2, 1943 to the late Napoleon and Dottsy Dryer Greer in Shady Valley and at the age of three he moved to Kingsport. He graduated with honors in 1961 from Lynn View High School.

Karl worked for Brown's Custom Shop for 25 years. Then, in 1985 he and his longtime friend, Don Clamon, opened their own business and operated it together for 12 years until Karl's health declined. He had a great love for football and children and had been a lifelong member of Lynn View Pee Wee Football League. He held various offices including; president of the pee wee league and currently sat on the Board of Directors. He also loved to fish, traveling, and enjoyed going to the races, but most of all, his greatest love, was his children and grandchildren.

Karl is survived by the love of his life, Sharon Whetsel Greer of 47 years of marriage; daughter, Wendy Greer McReynolds and husband Dale of Kingsport; son, Jeff Greer and wife Marye of Kingsport; five grandchildren, Mekaila, Megan, and Blake McReynolds, Alex Middleton, and Andrew Greer; brother, Edwin Greer and wife Lottie; sisters-in-law, Cheryl Broome and husband Wayne and Mona Hamilton and husband David; brother-in-law, Chris Whetsel and wife Denise; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and special companion pet, Spencer.

The family will receive friends, Monday, August 25, 2014, from 5-7:00pm, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Funeral services will immediately follow at 7:00pm, with Chaplain Jerry Ketron officiating.
A graveside service will be held, Tuesday, August 26, 2014 11:00am, at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Coaches of Lynn View Pee Wee Football League.
