Katherine Combs

Katherine B. Combs, Kingsport, moved on to be with her Heavenly Father Saturday January 5, 2008.

Originally from California, she moved to TN in 2005 to be closer to her family. She spent many years in college to further her knowledge of teaching special education.

Katherine loved tending to her plants, shopping with her children, and lying on the beach.

She was a beloved mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, aunt, teacher, and friend.

She was preceded in death by her best friend, Debbie Stewart.

Surviving are son, Jeffrey Combs, Kingsport; daughters, Jennifer Vaughn and husband, Chris, Duffield, VA, and Kathryn Bates and husband, Danny, Kingsport; mother, Madonna and husband, Earl Staudinger, Mt. Carmel; grandchildren, Katie and Sahara Bates, and Eric Vaughn; brother, John Lewis, Mt. Carmel; nephews, Anthony, Ricky, and Tommy; and special friends, Diane Sorensen and Nancy Simmons.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Services will be at 5:30 p.m. with Rev. Paul Valleroy officiating.
