Katherine "Katie" Brown, 67, died on Easter Sunday, April 1, 2018 in Kingsport, TN after a period of declining health.

Katie was born and raised in Kingsport and was a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School. She attended college at UT Chattanooga and UT Knoxville where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi Fraternity. Katie enjoyed a career in customer service in the travel industry in Atlanta, GA and Kingsport. Before retiring she was employed by Charter Communications in Kingsport. Katie was an avid reader and enjoyed travel; spending time with friends and family; and all animals, especially dachshunds. She was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church family.

Katie was preceded in death by her parents, Ben M. Brown Jr. and Katherine Tiptom Brown. She is survived by a sister, Rebecca "Becca" Wright and husband, Allen of Kingsport; a brother, Ben M. Brown III and wife, Mary Sue of Eugene Oregon; nieces, Sarah Good and husband, John of Kingsport, Rachael Brown and husband, Brian Hayes of Washingdon, DC and Kimiyo Bowlby and husband Taran of Waiainae, Hawaii; nephew, Michael Holt and wife, Katie of Kingsport; great-nieces, Kellan, Lleyton and Rowan Good of Kingsport; great-nephew, Ben Hayes of Washington, DC; her beloved pups, Bogie and Bacall; and many special cousins.

Katie loved giving to others and always put great thought into what she gave. She chose her final gift to be donation of her body to the Anatomical Gift Program at ETSU Quillen College of Medicine.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at 3:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church, 100 W. Church Circle, Kingsport with Rev. Sharon Amstutz and Mrs. Cheryl Rice officiating. The family will receive friends in the foyer of the church following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, c/o the Brain Tumor Program, P.O. Box 1000, Dept 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908; the Bridge Home No-Kill Animal Rescue, P. O. Box 654, Blountville, TN 37617, or the Kingsport Animal Shelter, 141 Idle Hour Rd, Kingsport, TN 37660.
