Katherine B. Light

Katherine B. Light, 66, of the Beech Creek Community, was called home by the Lord late Thursday afternoon, March 24, 2011, following an extended illness.

Katherine was born in Hawkins County where she had resided most of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of Van Hill Freewill Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Light May 2010; parents; and one brother, Harold Brewer.

Surviving are her son, Greg Brewer and wife Lisa of Rogersville; one special grandson, Joey Brewer; two sisters, Ruby Light and Rass Crawford of Kingsport and Shirley Mullins and husband James of Raleigh, NC; two brothers, Robert Brewer of Kingsport and Kenneth Light and wife Loretta of Nashville, TN; two special nephews, Anthony Light and Lynn Light; and two special great-nephews, Tyler Collins and Dylan Rines.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Amedisys Home Health, Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center ER staff and the Church Hill Rescue Squad.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Fall Branch. The funeral service will follow with Rev. Pete Smith and Rev. Rex Miller officiating.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Mount Carmel Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
