Katherine Trinkle Powell, 94, Kingsport, TN, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, June 25, 2010 after a brief illness. She left this world singing, "Oh, How I Love Jesus" at her daughter's home.
Mrs. Powell was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church and the Pauline Martin Bible Study. She worked several years at Borden Mill and served for the American Red Cross.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice Powell, who served 40 years as treasurer of Calvary Baptist Church. She was joined in heaven by her son, Larry T. Powell.
Surviving are daughter, Susan Hudson and a beloved son-in-law, Dr. William Hudson; four grandchildren, Darek Powell, Aubryn, Aleigha, and Krissa Hudson; two sisters-in-law, Aleen Steadman and Jean Powell; several nephews and nieces; and her special friend and caregiver, Wanda Osborne.
The family will receive friends 5:30 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. Monday evening at Calvary Baptist Church.
Services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Monday at the church with Dr. Donnie Brannen officiating.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at East Lawn Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be C. B. Shanks, Joseph Brooks, Bill Little, David Powell, Charles Powell, and James Caywood. Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie McDavid, Mike McDavid, and her nephews.
