Kathleen Dawn (Toft) Steinmetz

Kathleen Dawn (Toft) Steinmetz, age 59, resident of Kingsport, Tennessee passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family after a long and brave battle with ovarian cancer on Thursday, November 24, 2016. She was born on August 3, 1957 in Huron, Ohio. Graduating from Huron High School in 1975 and the Toledo University School of Nursing in 1977, Kathleen enjoyed gardening, cooking, fishing, playing bridge and spending time with her family, especially her granddaughters.

She is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Guy Steinmetz; one daughter, Kristin (William) Frogge of Memphis, Tennessee; and one son Matthew (Ashlea Ramey) Steinmetz of Kingsport, Tennessee; three granddaughters, Madeline Kathleen Frogge, Lauren Frogge, Lindsay Frogge and one great-granddaughter Paiton. Her parents Carl and Barbara Mills Toft of Huron, Ohio; her siblings; Mark (Donna) Toft of Somanauk, Illinois, Theresa (John) Thompson of Columbus, Ohio, Lisa (Jim) Long of Vera Beach, Florida, and Becky (Dave) Halliwell of Milan, Ohio, a special Uncle Richard (Lynne) Mills of West Salem, Ohio; three Aunts Majorie Hermes, Marlene Poock and Lorene Mills Brown all of Sandusky, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews also survive her.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her infant brother Timothy Carl Toft; grandparents Mark A Mills, Mary Mills Wheeler, Carl and Martha Vorbau Toft; a step grandfather Norman Wheeler, Father and Mother-in-law Ralph and Helen Steinmetz and her Uncle Ronald Mills.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 9-11:00 am at St. Dominic Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 am with Father Charlie Burton and Father Michael Cummins officiating.
