Kathleen Benton Dykes, 81, of Kingsport, died Thursday, February 12, 2009 at the Wexford House in Kingsport, TN.
Mrs. Dykes was a member of the Mount Carmel Free Will Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Kermit Rass Doc Dykes in 1976; her father and mother, Lee and Belle Benton; and one sister, Lorena Hale.
Kathleen is survived by three daughters, Lynn Hicks and husband Charles of Kingsport, Kathy Yakley and husband Jerry of Rogersville, and Robin Lawson and husband Glenn of Kingsport; four granddaughters, Lisa Overbey and husband Phillip of Gate City, Quana Roberts and husband Lester of Roan Mountain, Chama Hicks of Kingsport, and Brandi Lawson of Gray; six great grandchildren, Presley and Elizabeth Overbey, Zeb Roberts, Tyler and Troy Judd, and Laylei Lawson; one sister, Hazel Cross and husband Everett of Church Hill; one brother, Lee Benton, Jr. and wife Lovely of Rogersville; special nephew, Denzil Hale; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport Chapel and any time at the daughters' residences.
The funeral service will follow at 8:00 p.m. with Rev. Jack Morelock and Rev. Charles Hicks officiating. Music will be by Phillip Overbey, Diane Bernard, and Larry Manis.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday at the Dykes Family Cemetery. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
