Kathleen Elizabeth Dearing Zeigler, Kingsport, died Monday, December 17, 2018 after a long life of 98 years. She was born and raised on a dairy farm in Morristown, TN in 1920 where she milked cows before school and took care of chickens, horses, pigs and turkeys. She never lost her love of life in the country. She attended business college in Knoxville, and upon graduation got a job at Eastman and moved to Kingsport. There she met Sam, who she married after he returned from World War II. Kitty was an avid bridge player, a Garden Club member, and she loved to knit, sew, make baskets, and decorate with flower arrangements. She was also a Girl Scout leader and a loyal member of Mountain View United Methodist Church for over 50 years. Her Mac & Cheese and Banana Pudding recipes were legendary - at least in our family. She was a loving mother to her kids and her favorite (and only) grandson, Ryan. We will miss her laughter and her love.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Morgan Zeigler, Jr. and her son, Samuel Morgan Zeigler, III.
Kitty is survived by her daughter, Jenny Bond (Randy) of Knoxville, TN; grandson, Ryan Dillingham (Erin Mullenex) of Knoxville; three brothers, E.C. Dearing (Pearl), J.C. Dearing (Dorothy), and Glen Dearing.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the "Church Angels" from Mountain View United Methodist Church, the staff at Brookdale, Rock Springs, and the nurses and staff at Wilcox Hall for the excellent care she and her family received.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Burial will follow at Oak Memorial Park with Pastor Sam Ward officiating.
