Kathleen Riddle Salyer, 93, of Kingsport, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, October 29, 2009, after a brief illness.
Mrs. Salyer was born on December 7, 1915, in Arno, Virginia. She resided in Kingsport most of her life. She was a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School and a member of First Baptist Church, Kingsport, and Echos Sunday School Class.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, H.C. Shorty Salyer; daughter, Ginger Kay Salyer Wilson; parents, Travis C. and Mary Marcum Riddle; brothers, Hardy and Hobart Riddle; and sisters, Edith Chandler and Margaret Hilton.
Mrs. Salyer is survived by her son, Carl Salyer Colonel, USA Ret. and wife Jane of Oak Ridge, NC; son-in-law, Joe Wilson of Johnson City; grandsons, Travis Salyer of Cornelius, NC, Alex Salyer of Greensboro, NC; granddaughters, Carla Copenhaver of Anchorage, AK, and Kimberly Mason and husband John of Richmond, VA; step-granddaughter, Leigh-Anne Wilson of Johnson City; great-grandsons, Conley and Alden Mason of Richmond, VA; a number of nieces and nephews; and honorary daughter, Cheryl Breeding Rice and husband Tommy.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church with Dr. Marvin Cameron officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
