Kathryn Huddle LaGuardia, 83, of Kingsport, TN, went to be with the Lord, February 8, 2012.

She was born October 17, 1928 in Indian Springs, Tennessee. She had resided in Kingsport since the age of 16 and attended Blountville High School.

Kathryn was preceded in death by her father, Henry Clay Huddle; mother, Rose Doty Huddle; brother, James Huddle; daughter, Christine LaGuardia Phillips; and several grandchildren.

She was a member of St. Dominic's Catholic Church. Her love of God was the essential center of her life. She lived her life serving others as a true friend, loving wife and devoted mother. Kathryn sacrificed for and was dedicated to her family. She was a caring, loving mother and wife who will never be forgotten.

Kathryn was the proud mother of nine children. She dedicated her time to them at home and in their activities. She served as a Girl Scout Leader and was active with the Boy Scouts. At home she cooked for and cared for her family. She consistently kept a vegetable garden and showed great care for the roses she grew. Kathryn did work with Julia Child and studied interior decorating with the Chicago School of Interior Design. She was a great lover of art, and studied with Edgar Bowlin and John Allen Maxwell.

Her love for her daughter Christine, who died of cancer in 1975, can be seen in her commitment to her work for cancer victims. She was on the Cancer Advisory Council at Duke Medical Center from its beginning. Kathryn was the chairperson on the Cancer Advisory Council at Holston Valley Community Hospital from its beginning.

Kathryn's faith was strong and she served her Lord without hesitation. She was chairperson for the Women's Guild for many years, the Bazaar Chairperson for four years, served as the Altar Chairperson, and was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Dominic's Catholic Church.

She served in the community in many areas including volunteering at the hospital, chairing the Gala at Holston Valley Community Hospital, and she was a lifetime member of the hospital Auxiliary.

Surviving are her husband, Thomas LaGuardia, Jr., of the home; five daughters, Virginia Chaffin and husband, Bob, Mary Ann Wright, Shirley Hutchins and husband, Steve, Terri LaGuardia and Kathleen LaGuardia; three sons, Tom LaGuardia III and wife, Susan, Larry LaGuardia and wife, Teresa; Michael LaGuardia and wife, Nancy; sister, Margaret Umberger and husband, Rodney; sister-in-law, Rosalie Tatay; 29 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 11th, from 11-2:00 pm at St. Dominic's Catholic Church. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm with Rev. Mike Nolan and Rev. Charles Burton officiating.

Interment will follow the funeral service at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Larry LaGuardia, Mike LaGuardia, Steve Hutchins, Joey LaGuardia, Steven Hutchins, Jr. and Aaron Fain.

In lieu of flowers and food the family requests donations be made to St. Dominic Catholic Church, 2517 N. John B. Dennis Hwy., Kingsport 37660, or to the Christine LaGuardia Phillips Cancer Center at Holston Valley Hospital, P.O. Box 1069, Kingsport, TN 37662.
