Kathy A. Gott, 52, of Bristol, TN, passed away Monday, September 20, 2010, at her home. Born in Lee County, VA, she had resided in Kingsport since 1980, before moving to Bristol in 2007. Kathy was a graduate of Pennington Gap High School. She had previously worked for the Social Security Administration, in banking, and as a legal assistant. Kathy was a member of First Broad Street United Methodist Church and attended Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Bristol. She loved playing the piano and tending to her beloved cat, Sophie.
Kathy was preceded in death by her mother, Audrey Sue Reed; brother, Gary; maternal grandparents, Cecil and Maxie Evans; and paternal grandparents, Alfred and Eunice Edens.
She is survived by her husband, Steven G. Gott, of the home; her father, Rhea Edens, Pennington Gap, VA; brother, Mark Edens and wife, Jo Ann, Maryville; three nephews, Mark Edens, Jr., Thomas Mullins, and Jonathan Muncy; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Dolores and Glenn Gott.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. at First Broad Street United Methodist Church. Services will follow at 7:00, with Rev. Mickey Rainwater and Rev. Mike Hubble officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted on Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m. at Lee Memorial Gardens, Woodway, VA. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Aldersgate United Methodist Church and beloved nephew, Mark Ray Edens, Jr.
