Kelly "Pop" Graham, 96, of Gate City, VA, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Born in 1911 in Scott County, VA where he lived his entire life, he worked as a sawyer at his sawmill. "Pop" enjoyed farming and riding his four-wheeler with family and friends. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather.
Mr. Graham attended Glenwood Baptist Church.
His wife, Irene Sims Graham; daughter, Gladys Graham Moody; and two brothers, Hubert Graham and Chat Graham preceded him in death.
Survivors include his granddaughter, Debby Ryans and husband, Jack; grandson, Bill Moody and wife, Judy; two great-grandsons, Chris Moody and wife, Leigh and Shane Ryans; two great-great-grandchildren, Edward and Chloe Moody; four sisters, Marie Sims, Vivian Folden, Geneva Steffey, and Emogene Williams; two brothers, Elmer Graham and Junior Graham; and several nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to Glenwood Baptist Church members for their fellowship with "Pop", and Gary and Teresa Graham, and Larry and Kathy Jean Robinson. Also, special thanks to Dr. Mohammed Shaikh and Dr. Gregory Marcum.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport.
Services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Rev. Dewey Shaffer and Rev. Ronald D. Horne officiating.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Hermon United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Great-grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
