Kelly Ketron, 88, Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at Wexford House. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp as a gunner on a B-17 bomber, having served in the Philippines, Germany and Italy during WW II. Kelly had retired from Kingsport Iron and Metal.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lakie Vicars Ketron; two sons, Elbert Ketron and Butch Ketron; two daughters, Margaret Ketron and Norma Sue Ketron; parents, Lilburn and Lissie Ketron; three brothers, Walker Catron, Kenzo Catron and Frankie Catron; and sister, Lois Bare.
He is survived by three daughters, Sherry Arnold of Kingsport, Patricia Jo Ford of Seattle, WA, and Katherine Ketron of Colorado; fourteen grandchildren; three special grandchildren, Ron Arnold of Church Hill, Brandi Castle of Bristol, TN, and Chris Painter of Rogersville; great-granddaughter, Lyla Pearl Arnold; sister, Shirley Byrd of Church Hill; special niece, Shelby Parker of Church Hill; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 20th from 5-7:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm with Pastor Aaron Price officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted on Friday, December 21st at 2:00 pm at Old Kingsport Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Military rites by American Legion Posts 3/265.
Pallbearers will be Ron Arnold, Chris Painter, Marty Catron, Tommy Vicars, David Derrick and Aaron Manis.
